Bayona is a village located at the edge of the sea and during centuries concentrated the commerce until at the end of Century XIX took the spectacular development of its neighbor Vigo. Its bay, around which has been ordered its most picturesque streets, opens next to the mouth of the Miñor river.

In La Pinona arrived in La Pinta in 1493, first caravel that touched port after the adventure of the new world. This is the occasion of celebration every March 1st in the “Festa da arribada” where the Renaissance atmosphere is recreated among the cobbled streets: the stalls and hotel centers recover and offer varied crafts, along with old Galician seafaring traditions.

Contemplate the sunset is an inescapable reason to visit the fortress of Monterreal and its famous tower of the Prince. The site has three kilometers of walls and is now a tourist parador. Also worthy of a visit is the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, dating from the 13th century, from Romanesque to Gothic. The monument is reminiscent of a Romanesque Gothic layout that resembles a fortification.
